Waffles

Friday has turned into my waffle day. Of course, I forgot to record while I was at the cafe but you’ve seen it before, right? Jump to evening because I spend the entire day on the computer. Veggie dnner and time with the kitties. At least we’re consistent.

It Gets Better

My small, personal refute of the gay-relationships-don’t-last myth on National Coming Out Day. Rich and I celebrate 25 years together in December. Unreal. Seems like the kind of stuff that happens to other people, right? No, I’m here to say it could happen to you, too.

No Ideas

Another Monday, another day lost in the computer. Too repetitive. Big excitement (?) was finding the Muni line down. No power. Then I resort to taking you along on a Walgreens errand and kitty porn. Yes, I’m desperate.

Sixth Shot

Sixth shot as in espresso. Just a typical day. Though you get to see my husband walking around in his underwear. That’s kind of special, I suppose. Then some glimpses of the Blue Angels from our office window. Scared the cats under the bed again. Never fear, Alice came out and performs cuteness for your enjoyment. I made another nice veggie dinner. Then took illicit drugs. Sort of. Acetaminophen with codeine. Over the counter stuff in non-paranoid countries, which is where these particular tablets were purchased. My messed up knee thanks someone.

Leave

No housecleaners this week so I had to leave the apartment for a couple of hours so my husband could clean. Decided to walk over to Hardly Strictly Bluegrass since one of my faves Lloyd Cole was playing a set. Delayed departure because the Walgreen’s website proved balky again for prescription refills. Second month n a row I’ve had problems. Not happy. Turns out the stage he played was deep in the park (the maps are always deceptive) so I arrived just in time for the final song. Damn. Not sure why I bothered. Guess I forgot how much I hate music festivals. Thousands of people sitting around with picnics and assorted mind-altering substances talking. laughing, doing anything except paying attention tot he music. If you don’t know the performer, why are you here taking up space? So I got out of there as fast as I could. So not my scene.Later I took the BMW for a cleaning, per Rich’s request. Caught a few seconds of the Blue Angels buzzing the city. Then fast forward to the Saturday vegetarian dinner at home. Decent day despite the crowds in town.

Not In LA

Originally, we planned to be in LA this weekend. I had a workshop during the week and Rich was going to join me for a long weekend. But the workshop got rescheduled then Rich decided he didn’t want to travel after all. Oh well. Lot’s happening in SF over the next three days. America’s Cup trials. Sporty events. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in the park. Fleet Week wrap up with the Blue Angels. Castro Street Fair. Too much really. Kind of think the girls have the right idea. I might just join them in hiding under the bed until Sunday night.

Hot Out

Summer has arrived in SF. If you consider one day with temps in the 80s to be summer. They say it will only last a day or two. Still more than enough for me. Spent too much time in the office for the day I’m supposed to work at home. Headed over to Union Square because I wanted to get the husband some treats from Tout Sweet. Made it home, set up the bedroom air conditioner, went for a run and made a nice veg dinner.

Late Edits

The airship Eureka was doing circles above our house this morning. Interesting since it’s the only Zeppelin in the U.S. Alice took notice and didn’t exactly like it. Then I had to catch up on editing the videos from Friday and Saturday. Not a bad way to spend a hot—well mid 70s rates as hot in SF—afternoon. Suddenly it was evening so we went to meet Matt, Miguel, Stephen and Eric for an early dinner at Le Zinc. And Rich explained why he’s a reluctant participant in these little masterpieces.

Cat In The Bag

Played around with Alice in the grocery bag. Then prepped for a group dinner. Our pals Stephen and Eric are visiting from D.C. so we had them plus Matt, Miguel, Aaron and Lynette for dinner. Rich did a mac & cheese with truffle oil. I caramelized Brussels sprouts, lemon and garlic. Lynette contributed an Asian pear salad. And the boys brought not one but two desserts plus ice cream. Adequate quantities of bubbly, wine and spirits were consumed as well. You know it’s a good party at our place when the Bennivin, a.k.a. black death, makes an appearance. Then we wrapped up the evening with a look at my husband’s cute butt and by getting the cats high on new cat nip. Fun for all.

Happy Friday

More like frustrating and hateful Friday. Seems like every time I got in the car today, I had a frustrating episode with traffic and/or people. In a nutshell: Rich, waffle at favorite cafe, frustration in parking lot, hate for strollers and the pigs who push them around oblivious to the rest of the world, attempts to fix toilet seat, big box store rage, traffic hate, predictably amazing meal at Ragazza with husband, making cats happy.
