Sorry Nancy P., you’re wrong on this one. Tweeting photos of your package doesn’t disqualify you from serving in the House. If you really want to take back the dump, do something to increase tax revenue so the economy will perk up. Though honestly, maybe I should be careful what I wish for. Having the media obsess over a fat cock is better than a bitch in a bus.
“Fish Heads” from Barnes & Barnes. Another fave from the days when MTV was young and filled with brilliant oddities. Yes kids, this offbeat masterpiece really was on regular rotation in the early 80s. I hate to sound like an old fart but music did seem more adventurous and fun then. Don’t try to make sense of it. Just enjoy.
Wall Street has multiple orgasms over Linked In. Then at breakfast, I overheard a self-important moron at the next table use “value added,” “crowd source,” “parse” and “scalability” in the same sentence. Then he went on to say that WebVan actually had a good model.
While I’m normally opposed to any state taking a human life, I have to view the execution of Osama Bin Laden as just. It’s long overdue. This moment should have taken place nine years ago; I still hold Bush responsible for the Iraq distraction. However, the notion that this is a moment to celebrate strikes me as wrong. Justice, yes. Vindication, yes. Avenging thousands of deaths, yes. But a cause for celebration or joy, no. The death of another human should never be cause for rejoicing. No matter how heinous the person in question. I was prompted to post these observations because the tv news showed pictures of morons leaping with joy in front of the White House tonight. It should surprise no one that one prominent individual wore a Texas flag as a cape. I don’t believe such behavior will do the U.S. cause any good around the world. Hopefully we saw just isolated reactions of a small minority. Maybe the majority of Americans will adopt President Obama’s tone. Serious. Determined. Resolute. I find hope in words from the victims themselves.
“This is important news for us, and for the world. It cannot ease our pain, or bring back our loved ones,” said Gordon Felt, president of Families of Flight 93. “It does bring a measure of comfort that the mastermind of the September 11th tragedy and the face of global terror can no longer spread his evil.”
One of my bright young things made a funny. He and his partner in crime launched backofawebpage.com this week. Good going, Jeff.*
*The observant among will note that I had absolutely nothing to do with the above brilliance beyond proximity. Nonetheless the luster of credit has worn off on moi. Thus concludes your free How To Be A Creative Director lesson.
Found a good quality version of U2’s Gloria from the October album. Not sure how long it will stay up since it’s not on the official channel. (Why not Vevo?) I distinctly remember watching for it in the early days of MTV. The boys are so fresh-faced, especially Bono and Larry Mullen, Jr. No wonder I had a mad crush on them.
