Another Saturday when Rich wants to clean so I’m expected to leave, of course. Fortunately, I had a real reason to be at the office. Unfortunately, a huge construction project spun a traffic nightmare when I tried to get home. Lots of cursing ensues. Then I follow what might be the most most inept driver I’ve encountered in ages. This person four or five stop signs with barely a tap of the brakes. Worse, he/she crept along between intersections. No doubt the DMV would frown at my reaction. At least Alice and Sydney were waiting to cheer me up.
My friend Kent started his own winery Erik Kent Wine Cellars a few years ago. So we’ve been buying a box every six months or so. They had an allocation ready to pick up. Since the weather seemed perfect, I decided to pop up to Sonoma and see him. He takes us back into the winery, explains some of the winemaking process and previews an upcoming release. Plus lots of driving shots. BMW inline six engine song. Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco Presidio. A generally glorious Northern California day. Pretty much why Rich and I put up with the high prices, crowds and ground that regularly moves.
Like the title says, I’ve been late all day. Started at breakfast with Jessie. He was amused by the camera but also a little reluctant. I like the way he gets the giggles at the end. But fair is fair since he documented one of our previous breakfasts.
Live on tape from SF’s glamorous South Park, watch as I bungle a made-up word. Completely losing the point of the joke. Oh well. To give you an idea of the kind of day I had, a highlight was remounting and hanging my 1984 20th Anniversary poster. Goosebumps!

Me squinting in the sunshine. Relaying news that Paul McCartney has recorded an album of standards with backing from Diana Krall and her band. Critiquing new work-neighborhood art. And explaining my white-hot hatred for the Republican party strategy that lead them to demonize gays and make us a wedge issue. Plus I get a surprise package. So exciting.
Yes, I’ve become that kind of vlogger. I also curse more than normal. At other drivers who don’t use turn signals. And at Sony for the way it manages the PS3 software. Plenty of the kitties at play as well, fulfilling that other cliche.
Very low-key Sunday. My day consisted primarily of the cats and cooking. Even managed to capture a demo of roasting beets. Even if you think you can’t cook, you can do this. Watch to the end to see the aftermath of Sydney’s antics. What I get for ignoring her.
Frustrating morning because we kept losing our internet connection. Then Matt and Miguel came for dinner. Rich introduced the absurd word “whatevs” to our vocabulary. And then he and Miguel refused to discuss porn on camera.
It’s a rainy day. Perfect for curling up on the couch and watching movies. On the bill today is Woody Allen’s “Interiors.” Plus a bit of errand running and the obligatory cute cat shot.
