A busy Monday. Started with Galapagos San Cristóbal from the Starbucks Clover machine. After going in to school for a bit, I got a haircut, had lunch, Bi-Rite ice cream and walked around the Castro. When I got home, the new camera was waiting. Can you tell the difference? I think so. Exported and uploaded 1080p since the higher-quality should justify the added time.
No fog and perfectly blue skies means San Francisco temps soared. All of 80°. Yes, we sweltered. Anyway, too nice to stay inside all day so Rich and I ventured down the Penninsula for shopping, etc. Ran into the Haight Street fair and Rich updated us on the latest Gaga news from New Zealand. Too silly.
Shipping problems on two fronts. Thanks Amazon and UPS. You make a great team. Irritations aside, we salvage the day with an impromptu dinner at Flour & Water, one of our favorite restaurants. The food proved outstanding, as usual. No wonder it’s one of the most talked about restaurants in the country recently. Then we topped off the meal with a drive to Ocean Beach, Sutro Baths and Land’s End. There’s even a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge at the end. Lovely San Francisco evening.
I’m toying with the idea of buying a new camera. The Canon PowerShot S100. Will I? Won’t I? Such tension. Otherwise, I putter around the house. Play with the cats and come up with a desperate dinner using the odds and ends in the refrigerator at week’s end. Then we set off on a positively scintillating Friday night out. Whee.
Forgot to upload Tuesday’s video. Opps. That’s what I get for attempting to break my usual schedule and post on the normal off days when classes aren’t in session. On to the summary: I ramble about the amount of work I put in grading, drop my ballot off at our gorgeous city hall and have a tasty, local beer. Plus usual cute cat appearance.
Very odd occurrence. Rain in June. Once I got over that weirdness, I spent all day grading but I am finished. Yay. Then you get to watch me vote. Oh the thrills never cease. It’s not much but the fact that I get to vote for both Diane Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi makes me do a little happy dance to the wails from all those nasty conservatives out there in Jesusland.
Kind of pointless video because I didn’t do much besides grade. I’m so far behind. Also shot espresso going into milk froth for the fun three layer effect. And of course a cat shot.
Had to spend the day at a school event talking to prospective students. Mini-tour of the Presidio and a glimpse of the Lucas empire. Captured a bit of silliness with my friend Steve. Then off to dinner with Matt and Miguel at Ragazza. Amazing food once again. The Bianca might be the best pizza I’ve ever had. Seriously. Finally tried to capture the feel of the extra thick fog during the walk home. The June gloom has arrived.
A momentary feeling of too much going on hit me this morning. Pressure to get everything done at once. I got through it by focusing on one thing at a time. Replacing the brushes in the washing machine’s motor and seeing it running again proved a huge relief.
Another day of construction. Serious wrapping the room in plastic and yanking the window time. Freaking the cats again. But the new window seems better. A last bit of ranting about the iMac. And going out for Korean food with friends. Korean feast really. The amount of food blew me away. Quite tasty.
