No Appeal

I don’t get the appeal of St. Patrick’s Day. Probably from the years of living in Manhattan. To me it’s either Hatemonger’s Day or Drunk Long Island Teenagers Puking In The Gutter Outside My Apartment Day. Shockingly I don’t see the point of acknowledging much less celebrating either one.

well im irish i live ireland,i celebrate it and me and all my friends dont drink,we r 17. i think americans shudnt celebrate it as its not a day to get drunk, its a day to go to mass and remember our patron saint. from the sound of it amreicans jus get really pissed and think they can celebrate it even tho they have no irish ties

To be fair, I’m a Scot who works in Ireland and Leixlip, Co. Kildare was throbbing with drunks on Saturday night. The drink casualty count was enormous the next day at work. Quite a few people didn’t make it in.

So while I agree with you that it is a Holy day for Ireland, don’t kid yourself that it’s only Americans who go out and get mortal on the day. Your countrymen represented the drunk scene in full effect.

Did you know that St. Patrick was actually an Englishman?
