Light Out

Driving in this morning, I got a surprise when the BMW chimed and tossed up a warning that the left front daytime running light, aka angel eye or corona ring, had gone out. Not a big deal except the computer chimes and tosses up warnings in both the instrument cluster and on the big navigation screen each time you start or shut down the engine. Can you say annoying? A check of message boards reveals that changing the lamp requires removing the tire and going in through the wheel well. Fun. Not the sort of thing I can pull off in our communal garage where car maintenance isn’t allowed. So that means a trip to the dealer. BMW’s extensive warranty means money isn’t an issue. Time and hassle are though. Honestly it’s almost worth a couple of hundred dollars to avoid having to schedule an appointment, get to the dealership, take their dopey shuttle downtown then figure out how to get back to pick up the car. I’ll stop bitching now. Also attempt to show you how hard the wind blows most evenings here. I wanted to grill zucchini tonight but couldn’t get the gas to light because of the frigid, semi-gale out on the balcony. San Francisco problems.
