Fuck PG&E

Four power outages in the space of 10 hours. Yes, I’m a little cranky. Hence the paucity of shooting today. Probably better that I left the camera off rather than subject you to even more of my sullen face and bad attitude. I attempted to salvage things with a tasty dinner but some moron outside set off fireworks and freaked out the cats. I had not choice but to go for an extended petting and purring session, of course.

BMW Service

Took the BMW in for service, which you could probably gleam from the title. Another stop for a Starbucks Clover. Rare glimpse of me teaching because I used my camera as part of a demo. Then picking up the 3-series. All seems better. Mondays can be so fascinating. Or something.

Dead Plants

Spent the day locked in the grip of a heavy fog. San Francisco summer fun. It didn’t break 60º F all day. My pot plants on the balcony are starting to show the stress. Hopefully some of them can make it through the next six weeks when the warmth should return. While I don’t want the heat that the rest of the country is suffering through, this gloom does get me down at times. But to cheer me up, I found new reserve coffees at Starbucks. The new Oahu is worth trying if you’re in a Clover market. Also worth trying is HBO’s new show “The Newsroom” from Aaron Sorkin. And they’ve got the pilot as a free view. Go watch it then come back here and tell me what you think.

I’m Spoiled

Something a little different—a video response for pals RJ and Will. Hopefully they (and you since you’re reading this) will learn faster than I did that domestic red eyes are a losing proposition. Spent most of the day working. Pathetic I know. Went out late in the afternoon to stock up on kitty food. Just in time to see the fog roll in actually. Then had a very chilly walk to dinner. Ragazza is so good we’d happily go every other day. I won a bet about dessert so Rich should have paid. He reneged, of course.

Slow Wake

Couldn’t wake up Friday morning. So foggy and cold I just wanted to stay snuggled in bed. But too many things on my to-do list. Walked over to the ATM then dived into a workout and lots of freelance work. Crawled away from the computer 10 hours later to go for another walk and make dinner. Not the most scintillating of videos, I know. But extended Alice cuteness kind of makes up for it, no?

Independence

How we spent the Fourth. Late lunch at Starbelly with Miguel and Aaron. Alien abortion talk. Salted caramel cones from Bi-Rite Creamery. Don’t you love how the random butch lady comes up to Aaron to find out what his sundae is? Playing with Puck. Listening to my husband trade porn with Aaron. Reviewing the “Call Me Maybe” video. Predictably playing X “The Fourth of July.” Failing to light the grill because it’s too windy and too cold.

Light Out

Driving in this morning, I got a surprise when the BMW chimed and tossed up a warning that the left front daytime running light, aka angel eye or corona ring, had gone out. Not a big deal except the computer chimes and tosses up warnings in both the instrument cluster and on the big navigation screen each time you start or shut down the engine. Can you say annoying? A check of message boards reveals that changing the lamp requires removing the tire and going in through the wheel well. Fun. Not the sort of thing I can pull off in our communal garage where car maintenance isn’t allowed. So that means a trip to the dealer. BMW’s extensive warranty means money isn’t an issue. Time and hassle are though. Honestly it’s almost worth a couple of hundred dollars to avoid having to schedule an appointment, get to the dealership, take their dopey shuttle downtown then figure out how to get back to pick up the car. I’ll stop bitching now. Also attempt to show you how hard the wind blows most evenings here. I wanted to grill zucchini tonight but couldn’t get the gas to light because of the frigid, semi-gale out on the balcony. San Francisco problems.

Facebook Suicide

I hate Facebook so much I no longer want association with it. So I killed my account today. Or at least I started the process. You actually can’t delete an account immediately. Maybe people attempt social harakiri in drunken fits then regret it the next morning. Whatever ever. I’m not turning back. Two weeks and it will be final. Meanwhile, I did a lot of freelance (didn’t bother to record) then cooked a great dinner (if I do say so) and watched Senna. A great documentary even if the 99 cent iTunes rental special is over.

Ready Strong Taste

Busy Saturday. Rich sees “Magic Mike” with friends; I turned my nose up at it. Instead I met my friend Alex for coffee then get to see the sweet bike he’s assembling, try his home-brewed beer and discover an unknown talent of his. Then I get Rich’s Touareg key working again and find a classic ’61 Thunderbird while getting the VW washed. Picked up pizzas from DelFina and ice cream from Bi-Rite before watching the horrendous “Longhorns” at Matt and Miguels. So much for my thinking that a gay film would be better than the straight one. Oh well, next time.
