November 17, 2007 Okay, I'm a hypocrite. No question. Because today I did something that I as much as swore I'd never do. I bought a song from the iTunes WiFi store while having my morning muffin at Starbucks. I'd heard this song that sounded like Diana Ross but with a decidedly jazz bent. Intrigued, I pulled out the iPhone and discovered that the track that had just played was indeed Diana Ross's "He's Funny That Way." Figuring that I might forget if I waited until I was back at the computer, I hit the buy button. Then when I got home, I checked out the rest of the album. Seems the track I heard is from The Blue Album, which was recorded in the early 70s as a followup to Lady Sings The Blues but shelved and subsequently "lost" until last year. I used the Complete My Album option to get the other 15 tracks. So mea culpa seems appropriate now. I shouldn't have dismissed the WiFi store and Starbucks connection as mere gimmicks. I not only used it to check out an unfamiliar but intriguing song, I also took the step that Apple and Starbucks marketing must dream about and bought the entire album. I am such a good little consumer.

November 06, 2007 Yes, I'm distracted. New kittens. New photo application. New OS. New computer. In descending order of mind-occupation time. |
