May 29, 2007 I'm furious with Nancy Pelosi, Jimmy Carter, et al. The Democrats were handed, on a silver platter no less, just about the closest thing to a mandate this country's cud-chewing electorate can manage. Yet they've still fucked things up. Congress passed one bill that had some backbone about Iraq, only to see Bush veto it. So they capitulated. Then Carter speaks the truth about Bush being the worst president ever. Again the White House stamps its feet and pouts. And what do you know, Carter backs down with a mealy-mouthed apology. It's all so infuriating. The Democrats have momentum on their side. Most people agree with them. But they're still letting asshole conservatives set the tone and leave them looking like wimps. Bill Maher said it much better than I ever can so just watch him.

May 27, 2007 Joined friends at Sea Salt in Berkeley tonight. Seafood, as the name implies. Quite nice. Had a taste of the Monkfish Liver Torchon. Can't say that I was wild about it. In the same way I'm not wild about other paté or foie gras. The brownie sundae with the salted caramel ice cream on the other hand was to die. Second time I've heard of salted caramel ice cream. Seems to be the trendy flavor of the summer.

May 26, 2007 Interesting cars spotted of late. Ford GT on the freeway today. Not that noteworthy in general I realize. But it was my first time seeing one on a public road. Certainly is long and low. More newsworthy though was the Tesla Roadster driving down Fulton Street in front of our complex last week. Must have been a testing run or press drive. Too bad I didn't have a camera either time.

May 20, 2007 I'm more than a little drunk but I've also had multiple cups of coffee so I'm up. Lucky you. And I just have to say that you need copies of The Smiths Meat Is Murder and The Queen Is Dead. If two better rock records exist, I certainly don't know of them. That is all. Carry on. Nothing to see here folks.
